2Lips and Dancers and Space

A Dance in Four Parts by Robert Wilson with music by Michael Galasso and additional texts by Christopher Knowles and Lucrèce

Premiered on November 10, 2004 at the Grand Théâtre, Luxembourg

Performed in English and French.

2Lips and Dancers and Space was Robert Wilson's first and only collaboration with the NDT III, the part of the Nederlands Dans Theater that consisted of four accomplished dancers over the age of 40. Using his own as well as texts by his longtime friend and collaborator Christopher Knowles, Wilson staged 2Lips in a surreal and minimalist setting, counterpointed by the fun, over-the-top costumes by fashion designer duo Viktor & Rolf. (They collaborated with Wilson again a few years later on the opera The Freeshooter (Der Freischütz).
