By Robert Wilson and CocoRosie
Based on "The Jungle Book" by Rudyard Kipling (1894)
Opening on April 26, 2019 at the Grand Théâtre de la Ville de Luxembourg
After Peter Pan (Berlin, 2013), Pushkin's Fairy Tales (Moscow, 2015) and Edda (Oslo, 2017), Robert Wilson joins forces again with the surreal folk duo CocoRosie for a retelling of Kipling’s famous collection of stories, "The Jungle Book." A project initiated by Théâtre de la Ville Paris, it will have its world premiere at the Grand Théâtre du Luxembourg in April of 2019. A cast of young musicians/performers will inhabit the visual landscapes of Robert Wilson and the unique sound of CocoRosie in a music theatre production aimed at family audiences. When asked to direct The Jungle Book, Wilson said: 'The Jungle Book' is a work for all ages. I always liked what Baudelaire said: 'Genius is no more than childhood recaptured at will'.
