Orlando by Virginia Woolf, directed by Robert Wilson (DVD)

25.00

Robert Wilson first directed Virginia Woolf's Orlando in 1990 at the renowned Schaubühne theater in Berlin, as a solo for the legendary German actress Jutta Lampe. A few years later, in 1993, a French version followed, performed by Isabelle Huppert at the Vidy Theater in Lausanne, Switzerland. In 1996, Miranda Richardson performed the same Orlando in English at the Edinburgh Festival.

Much later, in 2009, Wilson was invited to direct his Orlando again in Taiwan, starring an acclaimed singer of Chinese Opera, Hai-Ming Wei. The performances took place at the National Theater in Taipei, presented by the 2009 Taiwan International Festival.

This DVD is a recording of the performance in Taipei. The boxed set comes with a second disk containing a documentary of Orlando in Taiwan, directed by Hsiao-Wei Chiu and Kuan-Yu Chen.
